Shari and her husband were the couple everyone envied: best friends who shared hobbies and ran a house that hummed along. But for more than ten years, they’d been living like roommates.
When he leaned in for a hug, her shoulders shot up to her ears before she could stop them. She was sure every touch was a request for sex, so she recoiled from all of it. She lived in baggy sweatpants. Some nights she pretended to be asleep when he came to bed.
When they did have sex, it was two or three very familiar moves and it was over. Sometimes she went numb, like her body was there but she’d checked out.
“I felt waves of guilt, like what’s wrong with me? And fear too, that it would ultimately end the relationship.”
Shari is a doer, so she did what she always does and researched. She tried books, podcasts, hormone panels, maca root, CBD lube, toys she was too embarrassed to take out of the box, and years of couples therapy. Nothing changed, because none of it reached what was happening in her body.
The first thing we did was take sex off the table for several weeks. In its place, she and her husband started a Pilot Light practice: a long kiss every day and holding hands on their walks. Small and warm, with nowhere it had to lead. For the first time in years, his touch didn’t make her cringe. She told me the relief was almost overwhelming.
We also went after the story underneath. Somewhere along the way, the good-girl conditioning she grew up with had turned into “sex is something I owe.” She rewrote it: my body belongs to me, and sex has to be good for me too.
She started paying attention to what was happening in her body, and treating it as information instead of a problem.
At the same time, we worked on soothing her nervous system, because arousal can’t happen in a body stuck in survival mode. She did belly-to-belly breathing with her husband, simple nervous system practices, one-song dance parties in the kitchen, and s-l-o-w showers with lotion afterward, just because it felt good.
Every week she did Pleasure and Sensation Mapping noticing what a yes feels like in her body (warm, loose) and what a no feels like (tight belly, clenched jaw). Temperatures of Touch gave her a way to say “I’m not up for sex, but I’d love to lie in bed and touch” without it landing as rejection.
And she started reaching for him: lingering hugs, a hand resting on his leg, without bracing for where it might lead.
Together they built an Intimacy Menu and Pilot Light menu and started planning dates. Shari learned her desire builds in response to the right conditions rather than appearing out of nowhere. So instead of waiting to be struck by desire while doing the dishes, she asked for the 30 minutes of warm-up her body needs.
Then one night, for the first time in a decade, she was the one who reached for him, because she wanted to.
Her husband laughed and said, “Who are you and what have you done with my wife?”
Shari says sex used to feel like choking down a bowl of plain rice. Now it’s a rich, multi-course meal: curious, playful, full of laughter, with orgasms that don’t need a glass of wine first.
She says ‘no’ without guilt and asks for exactly what she wants. They flirt in front of the kids and send each other playful texts. Friends who have no idea she’s doing this work keep telling her she looks radiant.
“I was able to reconnect to some areas of my body like movement, voice, and my breath, that I’d distanced myself from a long time ago. And honestly, that alone was a huge awakening. This is the best sex we’ve ever had. And we’ve been together for 16 years!”

Here are my biggest takeaways and yes, I’d be happy to leave a testimonial!
I am super proud of myself for actually using the tools you gave me. I was able to use them in real time during really hard conversations with [name omitted]. It has made such a big difference!! Now rather than disconnecting from him and shutting down, I find myself soothing myself and still having the hard conversation. I’m almost 40 and never, ever was able to do this.
We’ve been really proactive about setting up our day and our space for romance and connection. We are using your practices for feeling connected before he moves toward sex which … I can’t even tell you what a difference that makes for me. As soon as we do the belly to belly breathing I feel my turnon come ‘on’. It’s like a spark I had totally forgotten about. It makes me feel like I’m in my 20’s again!
Biggest wins for me are: actually wanting sex again, understanding what my body is doing and why, how to talk to [name omitted] without him getting sad or offended, feeling present during sex rather than in my head, and having some of the best orgasms of my life!!
“My days are more infused with fun now, I feel connected with my partner again… and I actually WANT sex. These tools really work.”
“Nicole listened deeply and guided me in simple but transformative practices that connected me to my body like never before. I remember she invited me to use my breath during foreplay and wow, it totally transformed the experience!”
“If I reflect on the changes that occurred during the time I spent with Nicole, the word transformation comes to mind. I accessed a new level of integration around sex that my whole being was longing for.
If you get the opportunity to do work with Nicole, do not pass it up.”
“Through my work with Nicole, I have begun the journey of healing my sexual past, as well as discovering my own unique sexual energy on a deeper level. Nicole has a gift for listening intently, making sure each and every word is heard. Each of our sessions left me feeling empowered and energized!”
“My biggest challenge before working with Nicole was feeling shame about certain aspects of my sexuality related to childhood abuse, feeling guilt after orgasm, and feeling very fearful of telling anyone in order to receive support.
Now I am more open with my partner than with any man before. I always felt like I was hiding a part of me, afraid that I would be rejected if I shared. I highly recommend Nicole for women who want to activate their sexual energy, and their ability to love themselves.”
“Through working with Nicole I realized that I don’t have to be invisible just because I’m in my fifties. I can still be powerful, sexy, and take up space. I am different in the way I carry myself. I set boundaries now, and I ask for what I need most of the time. Nicole is a fearless and compassionate guide and I have learned so much about myself in my sessions with her. She was born to do this work.”
“I experienced massive revelations and considerable transformation in our sessions, particularly meeting my inner child for the first time. I found myself being more aware of my thoughts, feelings, how I hold these in my body. My work with Nicole helped me release things I am holding on to and evaluate my relationships and boundaries.”
